FAQ & policies

Questions, answered honestly

If the answer you need is not here, ask us — we would rather explain it once properly than have you guess.

Working with us

  • How long does a commission take?

It depends on the piece. A single prototype part is usually 5–14 days. An architectural model is 10–21 days. A hand-painted figure is 14–30 days, because the painting is the slow part. You get a specific date on your quote, not a range, and we tell you as soon as anything threatens it.

  • How much does it cost?

Every piece is priced individually — the size, the part count, the material and the finish all move the number, so a rate card would only mislead you. Send us a brief and you get a written quote at no cost. If you have a budget in mind, tell us and we will say honestly whether it is achievable.

  • Can you work to a rush deadline?

Sometimes. It depends on what is on the printers that week. Ask us with the date and we will give you a straight yes or no rather than accepting and hoping. A rush slot carries a surcharge, which will be on the quote before you agree to it.

  • What if the finished piece is not right?

If it does not match the written scope on your quote, we correct it at our cost. Your quote states how many revision rounds are included. Changes beyond the agreed scope are requoted before we start — you will never get a surprise invoice.

  • Can I visit the studio?

Yes, by appointment. Most clients who visit end up choosing finishes in person, which is faster than describing them over chat. Message us and we will find a time.

Files & materials

  • What files do you need?

For 3D work: .stl, .obj or .step. For drawings and reference: .pdf, .jpg or .png. If you only have sketches or photographs, that is fine — we model from those regularly, and the modelling time will be on the quote.

  • I don't have a 3D file. Can you still make it?

Yes. We model from drawings, photographs, concept art, or a description with reference images. This is a normal starting point, not a problem — roughly half our figure and gift work begins this way.

  • Resin or FDM — which do I need?

We recommend resin when sharp detail matters: figures, fine architectural elements, anything that will be photographed close up. FDM is the better choice for larger, more robust parts and functional test pieces. Tell us what the piece has to do and we will recommend one, with the reason.

  • How durable are the pieces?

Display pieces are durable in normal handling but they are not toys — resin is rigid and will chip if dropped. Functional prototypes can be printed in tougher materials if you tell us they need to be handled or tested. Keep any printed piece out of prolonged direct sunlight; the care card that ships with your order covers this.

Warranty, rights & privacy

  • What is your warranty?

We warrant every piece against manufacturing defects — a failed bond, an assembly fault, a finish flaw — for 30 days from delivery. Tell us within that window and we repair or remake it at our cost. The warranty does not cover accidental damage, or deterioration from direct sunlight or heat, which the care card explains how to avoid.

  • What if it arrives damaged?

Photograph it before unpacking any further and send us the photographs the same day. Courier damage is on us to resolve, not on you to argue about. We will repair or remake the piece.

  • Can you print a licensed or branded character?

Only where you hold the rights, or have the rights holder's permission. We will ask you to confirm this before we start. This is not us being difficult — reproducing someone else's design without permission exposes you as the commissioner as much as it exposes us, and we would rather have that conversation at the brief than after delivery.

  • Who owns the model file afterwards?

You own the design you brought us and anything we model to your brief and you have paid for. We keep an archive copy so a repeat order does not start from zero, and we do not reuse or resell your design. If you want the archive copy deleted, ask and we will delete it and confirm in writing.

  • What do you do with my personal data?

We collect only what we need to prepare your quote and deliver your order — your name, your contact details, and the files you send us. We do not sell or share it for marketing. You can ask us at any time what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
